The horse on Greener Pastures is based loosely on photographs I took of a friends horse. A large variety of fabrics were chosen for this project. Fabric was sorted into 6 value piles and selected randomly based a value number assigned the fabric. Greener Pastures uses appliqué and reverse appliqué. The mane of the horse is thread painted. The entire quilt is quilted with free motion stitching using invisible (clear) thread. The quilt is made of three layers: a pieced front, cotton batting, and a backing. It has a rod pocket on the back for easy hanging. This quilt measures 23 ¼ by 21 ½.

How long did this take you to make? It's amazing and so lifelike!
Thanks! This took at least 50 hours, but I really enjoyed it. This was my 1st time trying this type of piece.
