This square little cabochon bead looks like a Monet painting to me. It is made of teal glass and an implosion of Periwinkle and Sparkly Green bits of frit.

So many changes on the way for this New Year. During my, "Winter Blackout" period I have been learning new glass skills. I Purchased several tutorials and Cd's and watched lots of how to videos on YouTube. Isn't it amazing how much you can learn on YouTube?
When I am finally able to get back in the studio full time I have so many new designs to try. I want to work on more Paperweights. I LOve the Implosions and will continue them but, I also want to explore surface work paperweights as well, like adding Glass Shards for interest.
I recently discovered,"Blowing Shards"... it looks so fun. Basically you gather a coil pot of glass in different color combinations on the end of a blow pipe, heat it, blow it out into a grapefruit size ball, then smash it into a stainless pot. The "shards" of glass that are left have interesting shapes, angles and texture. These pieces can then be applied onto solid forms.. I have sooo many creative ways in my mind to use them!!
Definitely more Lampwork Glass Swimmers and Divers will be created and I have something in mind for a Simple yet Elegant Dragonfly Sculpture. I'm thinking long slender reeds extending from a Paperweight style base with all white Dragonflies...

Wendy Williams passion for Flameworked Glass began in the early 90’s while living in Hawaii. She fell in Love with this molten medium at first site and soon set out creating her own style of Ocean Inspired Creatures.
She now lives in South Carolina sharing her home and studio with her husband, three rescue dogs and a wild cat named Jennifer. Recently she turned her focus to creating the human form. Each piece she creates is an extension of her personality; a reflection of how she chooses to live her life, Calm, Peaceful, and Surrounded by Nature.
