Our business is in Michigan. Are your contracts general or do you provide according to each State. Isn't the contract laws different for each State? We live a short distance from Notre Dame where thousands shop before football games. Would like to break into the area of gift shops. If we wanted to go with a rep what do they base your rate of pay on? Thanks for your help. So glad to see the the info on selling to gift shops.
Barbara,
Thanks for your kind words and your interest in my products.
First, my "agreements" are general in nature. As far as I know, they do not violate or contradict any state regulations. If you are concerned, it would be best to have your contracts/agreements reviewed by an attorney.
Second, reps base their commission on the wholesale order total. For example, if a rep took an order for $100 worth of products, you shipped and billed the retailer $115 (which included the shipping), you would pay your rep $15 or 15% of the total product order.
If you are interested in hiring a sales rep, I would suggest you order my eGuide: How to Find, Recruit and Manage Sales Reps: http://resourcecenter.meylah.com/SellingtoRetailers/how-to-find-recruit-and-manage-sales-reps.
Hope this helps!
Good luck,
Sandy
