Mod Tweet Baby Quilt

This darling quilt is done in white, yellow, green, and grey. Perfect colors for ANY baby! The center block is done using a raw edge applique technique. I made this quilt as a sample to hang in a local fabric shop in West Seattle. It hung there for several months and got many compliments and rave reviews!

The center block is trimmed with jumbo green ric-rac and the whole thing has been quilted using a mixture of an all over design in the middle and lots of straight line quilting on the outside. I used a light yellow thread to make the quilting stand out just a bit from the white fabric.

The size measures 48 inches x 42 inches

If you would like a custom quilt in your own colors, I can make that as well.

Modern Cabin

It has been quilted very densely using straight lines in the center with a free motion quilting design around the flowers in the border fabric. It took about 20 hours just to do the quilting alone. All the quilting adds such a wonderful texture and a real heirloom look.

The lovely plaid binding on Modern Cabin was machine stitched to the front and then hand sewn onto the back. For the backing fabric I used Robert Kaufman's Quilters Linen.

Modern Cabin is a twin sized quilt, but can also be used as a large lap quilt.

This quilt is machine washable on a delicate or hand wash cycle. You can tumble dry it on a low heat setting or lay flat to dry.

Baby Pips

The scarves, kids riding scooters, and trees shedding their leaves very much reminds me of late fall when the weather really starts to get chilly. What a perfect gift Baby Pips would be for a baby due this fall or winter.

Along with the Sherbet Pips fabric, I have also used several Kona cottons from Robert Kaufman. All of the fabrics used in my quilts are very high quality to ensure you get many, many years use out of them. To add some extra interest to the backside of the quilt, I pieced it as well.

The quilting is done in simple geometric designs and straight lines. This quilt measures 36" x 36".

To make the sleeve, I paired it with a solid grey fabric to make the washi design really stand out. It has been quilted using straight lines, each just 1/2" apart.

All of my electronic sleeves are fully lined, and have a layer of batting between the fabrics for added protection. What good is it having a fun portable device if you are always worried about scratching it up when you take it out? Put it in a sleeve and toss it in your purse or backpack.

Cherries and Apricots - Market Bag

Market bags are the easiest way to help the environment. A market bag is a bag you take the the grocery store or farmers market. Using these reusable bags are much better than filling up the cabinet under your kitchen sink with plastic grocery bags. Many grocers are selling reusable bags, but they are SO boring!

I bought some from my local supermarket and I decided that I was much too fashionable to carry around one of those drab things. I made a few bags out of beautiful fabrics, and the next time I went to the grocery store I was the most popular girl there. Obviously women are in need of these wonderful bags, so of course I made some more.

These can be made out of any fabrics at all, but I prefer cute food prints for mine. As always, we take custom orders. So if you love these bags, but don’t love the fabrics… I can use any print you like. Just ask! These bags would also be great for the beach or an overnight bag.

It is fully lined with white muslin fabric. It measures a generous 20" x 20" x 5".

Our market bags are machine washable on the delicate cycle. Lay flat to dry, or tumble dry on low setting.

Introducing Myself

Hello! I have had my shop open for a short time already, but today I have finally got a few items listed for sale. I thought that I'd tell you a little bit about me and my shop for the grand opening.

First of all Happy Earth Day! My family and I are avid recyclers and we go for walks daily around our neighborhood and a nearby park picking up trash. We love riding our bikes, and growing our own veggies. I'm not perfect, by any means. I have a large family so when I do drive, I need a big car. If they ever make an SUV that runs on alternative fuel (and that I can afford) I'll have one in my driveway ASAP!

Speaking of my big family... I am happily married and have four beautiful children. We also have a Pug named Bijou. She is definitely a member of our crazy family. We live in a small town in Eastern Washington and I sew in my closet (hence the name of my shop 'Little House'). I started sewing 10 years ago when my husband bought me a sewing machine for my 22nd birthday. Everyone told him I wouldn't like it, but he knows me better than that! The first thing I made was throw pillows that were, admittedly, mediocre.

About 5 years ago, I caught the quilting bug. It really became a passion for me. I even have a quilt that won 2nd place in the state fair last year. Having a small space to sew however, is somewhat of a hindrance when trying to make bed sized quilts. I came up with the idea to make sleeves for electronic products after I received a Kindle Fire last Christmas.

So don't be surprised if you see a quilt or two pop up in the shop occasionally. Mostly I will focus on smaller items, but quilting is really my first love. I hope you enjoy the new shop! Any feedback is welcome and I love custom orders as well.

Thanks for visiting!

Selina

Kaleidoscope - Kindle Fire Sleeve

The Kindle Fire is a great transportable size, and with this sleeve on it, you don't have to be afraid to take it with you wherever you go.

The fabric used features beautiful, bright flowers in pinks and lime green. Contrasting fabric is a lime green with white polka dots. It measures 8" x 5.5" and is made to fit your Fire snugly. All of my sleeves are fully lined and quilted with a layer of batting in between for extra protection. The closure is velcro for ease in opening and closing.

I have many (maybe a little TOO many) fabrics to choose from. If you'd like a custom order, just contact me and let me know! I am more than happy to make custom orders.
