4 Tips For Taking Better Pictures Of Your Products

Are you struggling with your product photography?  It's easy to get frustrated when your product photos don't looks as good as your products do in person.

Well, we want to help ease your frustration and get you on the path to taking great product shots.  So, here are 4 tips for taking better pictures of your products.

1. Take Lots Of Pictures

When taking photographs of your products, take several pictures from many different angles to give yourself lots of options and then select the best 3-5 pictures and post those online with your product listing.

2. Create Consistency

Create consistency with your product pictures...use a flat background so people can see the workmanship in your products without any distractions like artsy props and backgrounds.

3. Don't Use A Flash

When taking pictures of your products, don’t use a flash.  No matter what time of day, turn off your flash as it will create nasty glare...instead use a light box or natural light to take pictures of your products.

4. Use A Photo Editing Program

When taking product pictures, make sure you have an easy photo editing program so you can resize, crop and edit your photos for your online store.  Some good examples include PicMonkey, FotoFlexer, and Cloudinary.

What tips do you have for taking great product photos?

Take great care to immobilize your camera - if possible use tripod with delayed snapshot, or at least prop your camera against some firm object when taking a shot. This will go a long way toward you getting really sharp pictures of immobile objects.

Wow, didn't know that using flash is such a bad idea. I usually use correction gel so that the light of the flash would be the same as the tungsten lights (using a CTO gel) or the fluorescent lights.
