SurveyMonkey has been around for about 10 years and is an online survey application anyone can use to quickly create a survey. No technical wizardry is required; the process is more about making choices: You choose a design, method of response management and result analysis. SurveyMonkey provides all three basic services for free and then offers more advanced services for a paid subscription of less than $20 per month.
Surveys are super important for the growth and direction of any business. Listening to your customers’ feedback will help point you in the right direction – otherwise known as the path to customer satisfaction. The question you should ask yourself is “How can it hurt?”
Surveys are a great way to help gather new ideas for developing products, build a profile of your customers, find out how your products are being used, or to get a gauge on your customer service. In any case, surveys are a great way for you to interact with your customers and make informed decisions about how to advance your business. Are you ready? This will be fun … let’s get started.

I have never tried making a survey for customers before – definitely a great idea. Thanks for the tutorial on how to set it up!
Hi, great post to raise awareness of importance of surveys. I see too many businesses that failed to do their homework on customer research or market research. Many times people rely on their “gut feelings” too much.
Surveymonkey is definitely quite powerful and very easy to use. Although not all their packages are free. The basic package is free but it limits to 10 questions per survey and limits to 100 responses per survey. The next package is around $19 a month.
I also found that surveymonkey does not allow you to embed the survey in your website/blog, which is a big limitation to me. I used Polldaddy to do that before, but it limits to 1 question for one poll. There is another service called impressity that actually lets you embed the whole survey in your website, which is pretty neat. Both polldaddy and impressity are free.
Great information Mark! We will definitely check out PollDaddy and Impressity. Thank you.

I am going to share this with my teachers. I think this would be an excellent research tool for them. Thanks! Sheri
hey mark, zoomerang also lets you embed your surveys (they have a facebook app as well)
