about me

My love affair with sewing began when I was four years old with the gift of my grandmother's old treadle machine. I started by sewing doll dresses and was sewing my own clothes by age ten typically without benefit of actual paper patterns. I made my patterns using old sheets and learned through trial and error.

I was lucky enough to be able to take mechanical drawing and art classes in high school and college which eventually lead me to a twenty-year career in mechanical design and engineering.

In 1997, I founded my own company, Purse-O-Nalities of Palm Harbor, to design and self-publish handbag patterns geared mainly for quilt shops. Thirty-three patterns later, I started Sewphisti-Cat Designs with a focus toward more contemporary styles and a greater emphasis on detailed instructions.

Over sixty patterns are now in print (with more on the drawing board) and my love for sewing has never waned. I am now offering my handbags for sale. All are made using only quilt shop-quality fabrics, fine materials, and attention to detail. Each bag is a mini work of art that you will absolutely love. (And, if I sell a few, I'll have room to store new fabric!)
