The Idea Box for Kids: Activities & Ideas

The Idea Box was created around the time my middle son was born in 2000. My kids LOVED reaching in the box and pulling out an activity for them to do. It was a surprise every single time!

I loved it because all of the activities and ideas were simple, required little to no prep-work, and used items that we had around the house.

When my kids got old enough, I got to sit back and watch as they helped each other and had fun with the different activities. We definitely have some really good memories attached to our Idea Box.

The age range for the ideas & activities are ages 3-10, however, older kids would love to do some of these things, too!

The Idea Box is made of extremely sturdy Paper Mache in a natural Kraft Brown color. The box takes up very little space at approx. 4 inches square and approx. 2 inches deep. Inside the box, you will find 40, double-sided wooden “coins”. Each “coin” measures 1 ½ inches round. Each side of the “coin” has an activity on it. There are 80 different, fun & easy activities for your child to choose from.

The best part is that the ideas and activities never get old...kids can do them over and over again.

Here are just a few of the ideas & activities you will find in the box:
-Draw a picture with your eyes closed
-Indoor Scavenger Hunt: Make a list of items. Hunt!
-Look through photo albums
-Turn on music and dance
-Have a staring contest
